CHARACTER PROFILES:
The Wooly Whatsit

The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin:
Debut: Episode 3, "Guests Of The Grunges"
Finale: Episode 64, "LB's Wedding"

The Wooly Whatsit is a fairly intelligent, pink,"Wooly" monster-like creature who lives just West of Gimmick's valley. Although he appears gruff and mean (and sounds that way too!) in the first episode we meet him, as he screams at the adventurers to leave him alone, underneath, Wooly really is a character with a heart of gold, most notably when it comes to princesses, fobs and the defensless of any kind. Always a great friend of the FOBS, he is lesser known for being a friend to Elves and Woodsprites, and when it's revealed Wooly couldn't read, he's invited to attend school with them. One of my favorite episodes in the cartoon series had Wooly being shrunk by Gimmick's reducing machine so he could be smaller and fit in with everyone else better. When trouble arose, and Wooly needed his size and strength to help out, he was changed back and realized that being himself was OK, that he didn't need to change.

Wooly's size and strength became a great ally to the Trio in various adventures, including the fight with the gutangs early in the series, and the rescue of Teddy after his accident in Episode #33- Captured, and the rescue of Grubby and Gimmick from MAVO headquarters. Wooly used the gruff and irritable side of his personality, not seen since the first block of episodes, when he brought out the monster in him and joined MAVO to help Grubby and Gimmick escape. The scenes with Wooly and Bognostraclum were hilarious.
Not much is known about Wooly's history. He is of a unique species and there are no other "Whatsits" found in the land of Grundo. He likes naps and playing with fobs and helping out any way he can when people are in trouble, while he dislikes large words (such as those Gimmick uses to describe things) and people who are mean or evil for no reason, such as MAVO and the Gutangs. You could say, the world would be a much better place with more friends like the Wooly Whatsit.
