Teddy Ruxpin was perhaps a toy, and a rare product, that could have still
became a huge success even without television commercials or large-scale advertising, a magical character who
could've grown by word of mouth. I find it a bit endearing that a character so magical also had advertisments
that seemed somehow magical and rather non-commercial. Below, I've posted some commercials from YouTube advertising
Teddy's first run (or TeddyI) in the mid to late 1980s, and hope
to dig up a few advertisments I have buried somwehere from magazines as well. I did not capture these commercials
myself and I would gladly give credit to whoever did if I knew who to give credit to. Watch for some new
Teddy commercials coming out with the new BackPack Toys version.
I love the voice of the narrator. This is one of two commercials I vividly remember seeing around 1986/87,
probably during Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin commercial breaks. I think a theme they touch base with in
this commercial- Teddy's gentle, friendly nature with stories filled with adventure and friendship rather than
violence, was what made him and continues to make him just that much extra special.
Another great Teddy commercial, this time co-starring Grubby.
